Our Rich History

East Coast Seafood Group (ECSG), established in 1981, celebrates an incredible anniversary milestone of 43 years in seafood. The company is proud to offer strategic focus on processed seafood and value-added product lines for distribution in North America, Europe, and Asia. We’ve built an unrivaled reputation as a global leader in North American lobster, North American scallops, Finfish and Value Add Seafood.

1981

East Coast Seafood is founded

In a small town in Massachusetts, East Coast Seafood began with humble beginnings. Over a few short years, the the company grew to be an exports seafood leader, know throughout the industry for incredible quality. Today, the family philosophy remains the same, with relationships and community remaining at the forefront.

1982

International exports continue to grow

Quickly the company grew live lobster exports to Europe and the company expanded. Today's the orginization exports to over 20 countries throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia.

2009

Plan Green sustainability initiative begins

We work closely with our customers to make sure that our sustainability efforts are aligned with their internal programs. Internally, we are constantly evaluating our footprint as a corporation – where we source, where we produce, so that we are doing more with less.

2012

Company merger with Seatrade International

In keeping with the companies' strategic vision of vertical and horizontal integration, this merger of lobster and scallops, was a step in building a highly diversified seafood company with logistical efficiencies and continued commitments toward sustainable practices and responsible business.

2017

Retail product line is born

Seafood can be intimidating for consumers to prepare at home and we removed all the guesswork. Our innovative products are designed to provide healthy and delicious seafood choices, making them easy for the consumer to prepare at home.

2019

Waterfront 66,000 square foot facility opens in New Bedford Massachusetts

Set in a state-of-the-art facility on New Bedford’s working waterfront, the operation feeds from the success of the companies’ commodity business and put lobster and scallop processing under one roof. Substantial investments enabled the new facility with superior product quality, automation, and packaging innovation, providing customers with shorter lead times for fulfillment throughout the country.

2021

East Coast Seafood distribution of value add seafood to major US club and retail locations

East Coast Seafood is proud to service some of the world's largest retailers with a full line up of consumer packaged goods. The company has seen demand for value-added seafood products from consumers seeking expansive flavor profiles, mirroring shifting attitudes across all food categories.

2024

New facility opens, offering 86,000 square feet of production space

Our newest facility in New Bedford, MA offers 86,000 sq feet for Raw & Ready to Eat Capabilities. Value Add Production, Tray Pack & Skin Pack, Freezing : Spiral, Nitrogen, and Plate Freezing, Cold Storage

East Coast Seafood controls their supply chain from beginning to end. Because we’re vertically integrated across North America – from the maritime provinces of Canada down through to Massachusetts – we control our product as well as the impact of our relationships. This has allowed us to create true partnerships with our suppliers and customers, as well as deep relationships with individual fishermen and cooperatives. We’re an innovative hub of information, and we do our best every single day to share that information along the value chain.
